RIBA Chartered Architect Thalia Vog Efthalia Vogiatzoglou

Background & approach.

I am a RIBA Chartered Architect, trained at the School of Architecture at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), an education that grounded my understanding of architecture as both a cultural artefact and a rigorous technical discipline.

Over the course of my career, I have worked with established and award-winning practices in the UK and Greece, contributing to residential, commercial, civic, and heritage projects of varying scale and sensitivity. Based in Colchester, East Anglia, my professional path has progressed from Project Architect to Associate, with increasing responsibility for concept design, design leadership, and strategic decision-making.

My work is defined less by a fixed stylistic agenda and more by judgment: the ability to read a site, a brief, and its constraints, and to respond with clarity and care.

Identinty, not ego.

I am design-led at my core, but always grounded in the realities of a project: its context, history, environmental conditions, planning framework, and the lives that will unfold within it. While modernist influences inform my work, I do not pursue an ‘in-house’ style. Instead, I seek what is appropriate, inevitable, and enduring for each place. Architecture should express identity without imposition, emerging from context rather than overriding it.

Strategic engagement.

Not every project requires the same level or timing of architectural involvement. Some benefit from full design stewardship; others from early-stage insight, pre-purchase advice, or carefully focused intervention at critical moments. I have structured my practice to reflect this reality. Clients engage with me at different levels depending on ambition, complexity, and risk, always working directly with me and receiving considered, experience-led guidance rather than formulaic service delivery. This approach allows architectural judgment to be applied where it has the greatest impact.

A Lean, Considered Practice.

My practice operates on an exclusive client basis, with low overheads, an agile workflow, and carefully chosen collaborations. This structure supports a high-touch, focused way of working, free from unnecessary layers, administrative weight, or stylistic compromise. The result is a thoughtful, climate-conscious practice that prioritises clarity, sustained attention, and long-term value, enabling clients to move forward with confidence in both design quality and decision-making.

Whether advising clients before they invest, shaping an early concept, or guiding a project with complex sensitivities, I pursue quality design with the least possible impact, both contextually and financially. Architectural change is guided by curiosity and care. It should honour what exists, respond clearly to what is needed, and result in spaces that quietly fulfil their purpose as places well lived.
